I’m driving a new Chevy Equinox EV and loving it! Let me tell you what makes the drive electric.
Google Maps
Google Maps navigation is already built into my Equinox. When I enter a destination to plan a trip, it will show my current charge and the estimated energy use for the route (factoring in North Country mountain roads, speed limits, weather, etc.). If it looks like I’ll need a charge at some point in the journey, Google Maps will add stops at charging stations compatible with the Equinox. Gamechanger.
Auto Temperature Tech
Having automatic temperature regulation is so nice, especially when I’m focusing on driving with my adaptive hand controls and do not want to reach over to adjust the temperature controls to get it just right.
Instead, I simply set the temp at what I want, and my Equinox regulates how high or low the fans need to be set at, if the seat heater/cooler is on or off, and makes changes to keep the desired temperature. As someone who drives with hand controls and needs to have both hands on the wheel to use the brake/gas, having this Equinox automatic temp feature allows me to safely focus on driving!

My Personal Parking Assistant
When parking, the Equinox’s camera system allows me to see multiple views – behind me, what’s next to me, and what’s in front of me. I park in a parking garage every day, where it can get tight! With the cameras, I’m a pro.
Quick story. I gave a friend a ride the other day, and as I backed out of my parking spot, I heard her say, “I’ve never seen car cameras like this, I love this!” So, I guess it’s not just me who’s impressed!
It’s also incredibly helpful to have these multiple views when I’m running errands or visiting my favorite places around town, like coffee shops, restaurants, and shops, where traffic may be heavy. The feature keeps me confident behind the wheel.

Adaptive Cruise Control for North Country Roads
My Equinox EV has Adaptive Cruise Control, where I can set the distance I want to keep between my vehicle and the vehicle in front of me on the road, set a speed, and let my car do the work. I use this feature on many of my long drives throughout Vermont and the New England area. This helps the drive feel more relaxing as I enjoy the stunning views passing by.
The Equinox also has hands-free steering — Super Cruise. If I’m on a road that’s compatible with Super Cruise, the steering wheel will light up blue and display a symbol on the dashboard. I haven’t tried Super Cruise yet, but I definitely will soon!
From Dream Vehicle Build to Daily Reality
I created my dream Equinox EV online with the help of the North Country Chevy Dealers, customizing it with the features I love (and thought would be helpful). It was built specifically for me, and it shows in every charge and every mile.
